For your first physical therapy or myofascial release appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to complete all necessary paperwork before your treatment begins. Please see the below for frequently asked questions.
What will take place during my first visit?
Treatment will consist of gathering subjective information, a physical evaluation and exam followed by an explanation of findings and the path we will be taking towards health.
Each follow-up will start with another gathering of information which will dictate the course for that day. There is no “protocol”, just individualized care each visit.
How many sessions will I need to come for treatment?
The short answer to this is that it varies. After each treatment there should be a “carry over” where your condition will continue to improve as you live your life from a new place of flow. However, the longer you have been experiencing the symptoms generally the longer they will take to subside. Also, some people like to come regularly for maintenance while other come to get them to the level where they can manage their situation on their own.
How does Myofascial Release work?
MFR was founded on the understanding that we all have the ability to heal ourselves. It is primarily “gentle work” that consists of holding tissue in a stretch position for a prolonged period of time. While gentle in nature the work has the ability to yield “powerful results”. The more prepared you are to receive the treatment the better those results will be.
What happens during a Myofascial Release session?
During the session it will be helpful to shift your awareness from your mind to your body. This “centering” will help quiet your mind and support the flow of healing energy. Centering may consist of focusing on a singular function, like breathing or feeling tension/lack of tension in a particular area of your body. Let yourself go to the best of your ability. When you “take the brakes off” and let go of resistance there is no limit to the power of your being.
What happens after a Myofascial Release session?
It is important to drink plenty of water in the hours following your session. MFR benefits have the potential to continue well after your session has ended.
